An MSc in finance in Ireland is a one-year NFQ Level 9 programme with 2026/27 non-EU fees from €13,500 at TU Dublin (about ₹14.7 lakh) and €18,400 at UL, through €19,700 at UCC, €23,000 at DCU and €27,300 at Trinity, to €28,980 at UCD Smurfit (₹31.6 lakh). Entry is a 2.1 honours degree in business, economics or a quantitative subject such as engineering, with IELTS 6.5 at most universities and 7.0 at Smurfit; no university lists GMAT as a standing requirement. Graduates get 24 months on Stamp 1G, but only listed finance specialisms qualify for the €36,848 Critical Skills permit, while most other finance roles use the General Employment Permit at €36,605.
Why do Indian students pick Ireland for an MSc in finance?
Ireland offers a one-year, English-language finance master's beside Dublin's financial centre of banks, asset managers, fund administrators, aircraft lessors and Big Four firms. Most programmes run 12 months and 90 ECTS, so an Indian BCom, BBA, BTech or economics graduate pays one year of tuition and rent, and several schools build in CFA, CAI, ACCA, GARP or PRMIA links.
The trade-offs are cost, grades and permits. Fees run from €13,500 to €28,980, the stronger business schools expect a 2.1 and a numerate background, and the Critical Skills permit covers only some finance specialisms, so a general analyst or banking-operations role usually needs the General Employment Permit.

How to apply for an MSc in finance in Ireland from India: timeline for September 2027
Applications go directly to each university. Smurfit and Trinity admit on a rolling basis, so treat these dates as the latest sensible points, not deadlines.
September–October 2026: shortlist by fee, strand and recognition
Pick 4–6 programmes across two or more cities. With a 3-year BCom, BBA or BSc, email each admissions office your transcripts first.
October–November 2026: book IELTS and decide on GMAT
Target IELTS 6.5 (6.0 per band) for most schools and 7.0 for Smurfit. MOI letters are assessed per programme: Smurfit waives the test only for a degree taught wholly in English in an English-speaking country, and Trinity wants a formal letter from the awarding institution. Smurfit may ask Finance applicants for a GMAT.
November 2026 – February 2027: submit applications
Upload transcripts, the degree or provisional certificate, a CV, two references and a statement. Smurfit charges €70, asks two 300-word essays and decides in 2–3 weeks; Trinity said September 2027 applications open in November 2026.
January–April 2027: offers, scholarships and interviews
Smurfit's 2026 MSc India Excellence Scholarship (up to 50 percent of tuition) ran 1 January to 31 March 2026 with no separate application: fully accepted applicants are considered automatically, so apply early. UCC and UL review merit awards with the offer.
March–May 2027: accept, pay the deposit and arrange the money
Smurfit's deposit is non-refundable, mostly €750. The visa file needs a loan sanction letter and proof of €10,000 in accessible funds. Check the current RBI LRS and TCS rules on remitting tuition and the deposit; do not rely on a quoted percentage.
May–July 2027: lodge the D study visa
Apply through AVATS, book VFS biometrics, pay ₹5,300 and submit the offer letter, fee receipt, bank statements, loan sanction and English evidence. The New Delhi embassy quotes 4–8 weeks and warns that applications made under 3 weeks before the start may not be decided in time.
August–September 2027: arrive, register, start
Smurfit starts at the end of August 2027, UCC on 6 September 2027. Register for your IRP (€300), get a PPS number and note the work limit of 20 hours a week in term and 40 hours from June to September and 15 December to 15 January.

Jobs after an MSc in finance in Ireland: Stamp 1G, the Critical Skills list and salary thresholds
A Level 9 master's qualifies you for the Third Level Graduate Programme: 12 months on Stamp 1G, renewed for a further 12 where you show you have taken appropriate steps to find graduate-level work, so up to 24 months in all. The registration fee is €300, and you must apply within six months of being notified of your result while holding Stamp 2.
Finance graduates need to read the permit rules carefully. The Critical Skills Occupations List names 2421 chartered and certified accountants and taxation experts specialising in tax, compliance, regulation, solvency or financial management; 2424 business and financial project managers in finance and investment, risk, credit or fraud analytics; and 2425 actuaries, economists and statisticians, and 2423 management consultants and business analysts, in big data analytics. A Critical Skills Employment Permit for those roles needs a minimum salary of €40,904 (about ₹44.6 lakh), reduced to €36,848 (₹40.2 lakh) where you obtained your qualification within the previous 12 months. The offer must be for at least two years, no labour-market test applies, the fee is €1,000 (₹1.1 lakh) and immediate family can join you. Roles not listed by name, such as many investment-banking, fund-accounting or banking-operations jobs, use the General Employment Permit at €36,605 (₹39.9 lakh), or €34,009 (₹37.1 lakh) for recent Irish graduates, usually with a labour-market needs test. Any role paying over €68,911 (₹75.1 lakh) qualifies regardless of occupation, so ask each employer which occupation code and permit type applies.
What do the official labour statistics say about finance work in Ireland?
The CSO publishes sector averages, not a salary for finance graduates. In Q2 2026 weekly hours worked in financial, insurance and real estate activities rose to 4.9 million from 4.6 million a year earlier, while Information and Communication fell to 6.0 million from 6.5 million in Q2 2024. The overall job vacancy rate was 1.3%, so competition for entry-level roles is real.
| Sector (CSO) | Hours worked per week, millions (Q2 2024 → Q2 2025 → Q2 2026) | Average weekly earnings, Q2 2026 | Change on Q2 2025 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Financial, insurance and real estate activities | 4.6 → 4.6 → 4.9 | €1,499.23 (about ₹1.63 lakh) | +3.3% |
| Information and communication | 6.5 → 6.2 → 6.0 | €1,730.61 (about ₹1.89 lakh) | +3.4% |
| All sectors | 87.3 → 89.0 → 89.0 | €1,046.88 (about ₹1.14 lakh) | +3.9% |
