An MS in Data Science in Ireland is a one-year, 90-ECTS Level 9 MSc with 2026/27 non-EU tuition from €17,000 at Maynooth (about ₹18.5 lakh) to €28,980 for UCD's MSc Financial Data Science (₹31.6 lakh). Technical programmes want a 2.1 in computing, maths or a numerate degree and IELTS 6.5 overall; business analytics MScs accept commerce graduates with quantitative modules. Graduates can apply for Stamp 1G: 12 months plus a 12-month renewal (24 in total) on evidence of graduate job search.
Data science in Ireland for Indian students: which type of masters are you actually choosing?
Irish universities sell three different degrees under the data-science label, and Indian applicants often apply to the wrong one. The first is the technical MSc from a computer science or mathematics school (Trinity, UCD, UCC, Galway, DCU, TU Dublin and Maynooth), which expects a numerate degree with programming.
The second is business analytics from a business school (UCD Smurfit, Trinity Business School, Galway, UL, Maynooth), which admits commerce, economics and engineering graduates with some quantitative background. The third is domain data science, such as UCD's MSc Financial Data Science. All are one-year, 90-ECTS Level 9 awards with identical immigration outcomes.

How to apply for an MS in Data Science in Ireland from India: September 2027 timeline
September–October 2026: decide technical vs business analytics
Match your transcript to the entry table. A BTech or BSc Maths graduate with Python should apply to technical MScs; a BCom or BBA graduate with statistics should target business analytics. Shortlist 4–6 programmes.
October–November 2026: IELTS or MOI letter
Aim for IELTS 6.5 overall and check each programme's band minimums (Galway Data Analytics wants 6.5 in writing). UCD rejects retake scores. If your degree was taught wholly in English, request a medium-of-instruction letter.
November 2026 – January 2027: apply early to the capped programmes
Trinity's Data Science strand has 30 places and closed on 30 January 2026 last cycle. Galway's portal reopens on 1 October; its Data Analytics course page shows the 2026 non-EU round as closed, so confirm the 2027 deadline on Galway's postgraduate admissions page. Business Analytics there is rolling. UCC's non-EU cut-off is 15 June but places fill earlier. Submit transcripts, two references, a CV and a statement naming your quantitative modules.
January–March 2027: offers, interviews and scholarships
Smurfit may ask for a GMAT or GRE at the director's discretion. Once you hold an offer, apply for UCD's Global Excellence Scholarship; Galway's business merit award of up to 50% is automatic for first-class graduates who pay the deposit.
March–May 2027: accept, pay as instructed, finalise the loan
Loans from banks such as SBI (collateral) or lenders such as Prodigy Finance or MPOWER (non-collateral) are examples, not endorsements; check each lender's university list. Remittances go through the LRS route, so check current Income Tax Department rules on TCS.
May–June 2027: D study visa through VFS
File on AVATS, give biometrics, pay ₹5,300 for a single-entry visa and attach the offer, proof that fees are paid as the Embassy and your university instruct, bank and loan evidence showing €10,000 (about ₹10.9 lakh) in funds, IELTS or MOI letter and medical insurance. New Delhi quotes 4–8 weeks and warns that files lodged under 3 weeks before the course start may not be decided in time.
August–September 2027: arrive and register
Register your IRP (€300, about ₹33,000) within 90 days, get a PPS number and start applying for analyst internships early; a summer industry project can lead into your first Stamp 1G job.
