University of Wuppertal

Bergische Universität Wuppertal (University of Wuppertal) is a public, research-oriented comprehensive university located in Wuppertal, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Founded in 1972, it is named after the Bergisches Land region and has developed into a modern academic institution with seven faculties offering more than 240 degree programs across the natural sciences, engineering, humanities, social sciences, economics, and theology. The university is known for its strong interdisciplinary research and its distinctive setting along the Wupper valley, including the famous Wuppertal Suspension Railway that connects its campuses. With approximately 23,000 students, the University of Wuppertal maintains an urban, multi-campus layout centered on the Grifflenberg campus, supplemented by additional locations such as Freudenberg, Haspel, and Mirker Höfe. It provides a broad range of academic and student-support facilities, including a central university library, research laboratories, cafeterias, sports facilities, and access to student housing through the Studentenwerk.
