Saba University School of Medicine is a private for-profit medical school located in The Bottom on the island of Saba in the Caribbean Netherlands. Founded in 1986, the university offers a Doctor of Medicine (MD) program with basic science instruction conducted on the island campus and clinical rotations completed at affiliated hospitals in the United States and Canada. The school primarily serves students from North America and prepares graduates to practice medicine in the United States, Canada, and other countries. Despite its name, Saba University School of Medicine is not located in the European Netherlands but rather on Saba, a small volcanic island that is a special municipality of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The institution is accredited by the Accreditation Organization of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO) and is recognized by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME), among other approvals. Its graduates are eligible to participate in the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) and residency matching programs.
