University Of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL)

The University of Missouri–St. Louis (UMSL) is a public research university and a member of the University of Missouri System. Established in 1963, it is the largest public research university in the St. Louis metropolitan area and is classified among R2: Doctoral Universities – High research activity. UMSL offers a wide range of undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs through colleges that include Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Education, Nursing, Optometry, and Social Work. The university is known for its strong emphasis on research, community engagement, workforce development, and student success. UMSL's main campus is located just outside downtown St. Louis in the suburban Normandy area, spanning approximately 470 acres. The campus features academic buildings, research centers, residence halls, dining facilities, a recreation and wellness center, and the Thomas Jefferson Library. It serves a diverse student body of around 15,000 students, including a significant number of first-generation and transfer students, and maintains partnerships with businesses, schools, and organizations throughout the region. Admissions at UMSL are moderately selective, with an acceptance rate around 51%.
