North Carolina A&T State University

North Carolina A&T State University is a public, historically Black land-grant research university located in Greensboro, North Carolina. Founded in 1890 as the Agricultural and Mechanical College for the Colored Race, it is the largest historically Black college and university (HBCU) in the United States by enrollment and a constituent institution of the University of North Carolina system. The university offers a wide range of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs, with particularly strong programs in engineering, agriculture, business, nursing, and the liberal arts, and is classified among R2: Doctoral Universities – High research activity. The university's approximately 200-acre urban campus sits near downtown Greensboro and includes academic and research buildings, residence halls, dining facilities, libraries, and athletics venues. The Aggies compete in NCAA Division I as members of the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) after a long history in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. NC A&T has a strong reputation for producing African American engineers, accountants, and agricultural scientists, and it emphasizes research, innovation, community engagement, and leadership development. Over its history, North Carolina A&T has grown from a single-building agricultural and mechanical college into a comprehensive research university.
