University of Erfurt

The University of Erfurt (Universität Erfurt) is a public research university located in Erfurt, the capital of Thuringia, Germany. It traces its origins to a university founded in 1379, one of the oldest in Germany, but was closed in 1816 and re-established in its modern form in 1994. Today it is organized into faculties including Philosophy, Education, Catholic Theology, and Law and Economics, and is known for strong programs in the humanities, social sciences, and teacher education.
