The University of Southern Denmark (Syddansk Universitet, SDU) is a public research university based in Southern Denmark, with its main campus located in Odense. Originally founded in 1966 as Odense University, it took its current name in 1998 after merging with the Southern Denmark School of Business and Engineering and the South Jutland University Centre. It is one of Denmark’s largest universities, offering a broad range of undergraduate, graduate, and PhD programs across fields such as the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, engineering, and health sciences. SDU operates several campuses across the region, including Odense, Sønderborg, Kolding, Esbjerg, Slagelse, and Copenhagen.
