Universität Hamburg is a public research university located in Hamburg, Germany. Founded in 1919, it is the largest university in the city and one of the largest in Germany by student enrollment. It offers a broad range of programs across the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, law, economics, medicine, and theology, and is particularly recognized for its research in climate and earth system science, particle physics, and infection biology. The university is a member of the U15 group of major German research universities and has participated in the German Universities Excellence Initiative.
