Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is a major public research university based in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It traces its origins to the Brisbane Technical College (opened in the 19th century) and the Queensland Institute of Technology (QIT), and was granted university status as QUT in 1989. QUT is known for its strong industry connections and a practical, career-focused approach across disciplines such as engineering, business, health, law, education, creative industries, and science. The university operates primarily from two urban campuses: Gardens Point, located in the Brisbane central business district next to the City Botanic Gardens, and Kelvin Grove, a creative and health precinct just north of the CBD.
