Montanuniversität Leoben (University of Leoben) is a public technical university located in Leoben, Styria, Austria. It is the country’s leading institution for geosciences, mining, metallurgy, materials science, petroleum engineering, process engineering, and resource recycling. Founded in 1840 by Archduke Johann, it has a long tradition as a center for education and research in the fields of raw materials, energy, and advanced materials. The university maintains close partnerships with industry and is known for its strong applied-science orientation and high research output. The university offers bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs, with a significant share of courses taught in English at the graduate level.
