Whitireia Community Polytech

Whitireia New Zealand (commonly known as Whitireia Community Polytechnic) is a public tertiary education provider based primarily in Porirua, in the Wellington region of New Zealand. It offers vocational and applied learning across areas such as health, business, information technology, creative arts, hospitality, and trades, with pathways from certificates and diplomas through to degrees. Whitireia has long served local communities while also attracting domestic and international students, and it has operated in partnership with WelTec; both institutions sit within New Zealand’s national vocational network under Te Pūkenga. Its main campus is in Porirua, with additional delivery historically across the wider Wellington region and Auckland. Teaching emphasises practical, industry-aligned programmes rather than traditional research-university models. Whitireia is known for strong connections to Māori and Pacific communities in Porirua and for applied professional training, especially in nursing and related health fields.
