UC RIVERSIDE

The University of California, Riverside (UC Riverside or UCR) is a public land-grant research university in Riverside, California, and one of the ten campuses of the University of California system. It began in 1907 as the UC Citrus Experiment Station and became a general campus in 1954. UCR is classified as an R1 research university (very high research activity) and offers more than 100 undergraduate and graduate degree programs across multiple colleges and schools. The university is known for its diverse student body, commitment to public service, and strong programs in agriculture, engineering, business, and the humanities. Located about 60 miles east of Los Angeles, the campus sits on roughly 1,200 acres near the Box Springs Mountains. UCR emphasizes undergraduate research, sustainability, and community engagement, and it operates several specialized research centers and museums, including the California Museum of Photography and the Entomology Research Museum. It is also recognized as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) and an Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution (AANAPISI).
