SUNY Albany

The State University of New York at Albany (SUNY Albany or University at Albany) is a public research university located in Albany, New York. Founded in 1844, it is one of the four university centers within the State University of New York system. The university offers a wide range of undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs across its nine schools and colleges, including the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy, the School of Business, and the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. UAlbany is known for its strong programs in public policy, criminal justice, atmospheric sciences, social welfare, and public health. The university serves a diverse student body with students from across New York State, the United States, and more than 100 countries. Its main campus is located in the city of Albany, with additional campuses in Guilderland (Uptown Campus) and downtown Albany (Downtown Campus). UAlbany is classified as an R1 research university, indicating very high research activity, and operates numerous research centers and institutes addressing topics such as weather and climate, homeland security, public health, and social and demographic analysis.
