Rhode Island School of Design (RISD)

Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) is a private, nonprofit art and design college located in Providence, Rhode Island. Founded in 1877, it is one of the most prestigious and selective art schools in the United States, offering undergraduate and graduate programs in disciplines such as fine arts, architecture, graphic design, industrial design, illustration, photography, and film. RISD is known for its rigorous studio-based curriculum, emphasis on critical thinking and making, and close integration with the neighboring Brown University, with which it shares a joint dual-degree program. The campus is situated on College Hill, adjacent to the RISD Museum, which houses one of the largest university art collections in the country and serves as an important teaching resource for students.
