Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) is a public research university in London, England, and a member of the prestigious Russell Group. It traces its origins to the People's Palace, founded in 1882, and to the technical schools opened in 1887, which later became East London College. Over the 20th century it merged with Westfield College and the medical schools of St Bartholomew's and The London Hospital, becoming Queen Mary and Westfield College in 1989 and Queen Mary University of London in 2000.
