The Fine Arts Work Center (FAWC) in Provincetown, Massachusetts, is a nonprofit arts organization founded in 1968 to support emerging writers and visual artists through residencies, workshops, and community programming. Each year it awards seven-month winter fellowships to ten writers and ten visual artists, providing studio space, housing, and stipends within a historic Cape Cod artists' colony. The Center also offers summer workshops in writing and visual arts, public readings, exhibitions, and other events at its Provincetown campus. Located in the heart of Provincetown, FAWC operates on a compact campus that includes the historic Hawthorne Barn, visual arts studios, writing studios, a gallery, and administrative facilities. It is not a degree-granting university; rather, it functions as a private, nonprofit residency and educational institution dedicated to fostering the development of early-career artists and writers.
