Emory

Emory University is a private research university located in Atlanta, Georgia. Founded in 1836 by the Methodist Episcopal Church and named after Methodist bishop John Emory, it began in Oxford, Georgia, before moving to its current Druid Hills campus in Atlanta in 1915. The university is renowned for its liberal arts college, professional schools, and close ties to the nearby Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Emory Healthcare. It is classified as an R1 research institution and offers a wide range of undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs across disciplines such as business, law, medicine, nursing, public health, and theology. Emory's main campus covers approximately 630 acres in a suburban setting just northeast of downtown Atlanta. It also operates Oxford College, a separate campus for first- and second-year students, located in Oxford, Georgia. The university enrolls around 15,000 students from across the United States and more than 100 countries, and it is highly selective, with a single-digit to low-double-digit acceptance rate in recent years.
