Technische Universität Dresden (TU Dresden or TUD) is a public research university located in Dresden, Saxony, Germany. Founded in 1828, it is one of the oldest and largest technical universities in Germany and a member of the TU9 alliance of leading German Institutes of Technology. The university offers a broad range of disciplines across engineering, natural sciences, humanities, social sciences, and medicine, and was designated a University of Excellence in 2007 and again in 2019. TUD operates multiple campuses throughout Dresden and is closely linked with the University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus. TU Dresden is a major research institution with a strong international profile, participating in numerous collaborative research centers and clusters of excellence.
