Birmingham City University

Birmingham City University (BCU) is a public university based in Birmingham, England. It traces its origins to the Birmingham College of Art, founded in 1843, and gained university status in 1992 as the University of Central England in Birmingham before being renamed Birmingham City University in 2007. It is one of the largest universities in the UK and offers a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate and professional courses across arts, design, business, law, health, education, engineering, computing and the built environment. The university is known for its strong links with industry, practice-based learning and modern facilities. BCU operates several campuses in Birmingham, including the City Centre Campus (home to the Parkside Building for media and arts), the City South Campus (focused on health, education and life sciences) and the STEAMhouse innovation centre. Its urban campuses are integrated with the city’s business and cultural districts, providing students with access to placements, employers and creative networks. The university invests heavily in specialist facilities such as TV studios, simulation suites, engineering workshops, fashion studios and music technology suites.
