The Petroleum Institute (PI) was a specialized university in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, founded by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) to educate engineers and scientists for the energy sector. It offered undergraduate and graduate programs focused on petroleum engineering, petroleum geosciences, chemical, mechanical, electrical, and related engineering and applied sciences, with strong industry ties and research aligned to upstream and downstream oil and gas. In 2017, The Petroleum Institute was merged with Masdar Institute and other entities into Khalifa University of Science and Technology; its Abu Dhabi campuses and academic legacy continue under Khalifa University rather than as a standalone institution.
