HTMi (Hotel and Tourism Management Institute Switzerland) is a private hospitality and tourism management school located in Sörenberg, Canton Lucerne, in the UNESCO Entlebuch Biosphere within the Swiss Alps. Originally founded as a private hotel school in the United Kingdom in the early 1990s, HTMi relocated to Switzerland in 1999 under founder Robert Larmour and has since grown into an internationally recognized institution serving students from more than 35 nationalities. Its motto, "Come as a Student, Become a Manager," reflects its career-focused mission to prepare graduates for leadership roles in the global hotel and tourism industry. The institute operates a distinctive hotel-school model across two alpine campuses—Hotel Campus Mariental and Hotel Campus Panorama—where students live, study, and train within operating hotel facilities. Programmes include Swiss-style diplomas, a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in International Hotel and Tourism Management validated by Ulster University, postgraduate diplomas, MBA and MSc degrees validated by Edinburgh Napier University, and specialist courses in culinary arts, events management, and TVET. Instruction is delivered in English, and the curriculum combines academic study with mandatory industry internships, giving students practical experience in Switzerland's four- and five-star hospitality sector. HTMi is formally recognized as a higher education institution by EduQua (Swiss quality label), the British Accreditation Council (BAC), and the Institute of Hospitality. The institute maintains strong ties with international hotel companies that regularly visit campus for recruitment, and its graduates are employed by leading hospitality brands worldwide. HTMi also houses the International Hospitality Research Centre Switzerland and publishes student research journals, supporting analytical and research skills across its programmes.
