Karolinska Institute

Karolinska Institute (KI) is a world‑leading public research university in Stockholm, Sweden, specialising in medical science, health and life sciences. Founded in 1810 as a medical school, it now offers a wide range of programmes in medicine, nursing, biomedical research and public health. KI is renowned for its research output, its role in selecting the Nobel laureates in Physiology or Medicine, and its close collaboration with the Karolinska University Hospital. The institute operates across several campuses in Stockholm, primarily in Huddinge and Solna, and employs over 3,000 faculty and staff.
