LAB University of Applied Sciences (LAB) is a Finnish university of applied sciences established on 1 January 2020 through the merger of Lahti University of Applied Sciences (LAMK) and Saimaa University of Applied Sciences (SAIMIA). It operates campuses in Lahti and Lappeenranta and offers bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes in fields such as business, technology, design, health care, social services, and hospitality. As a UAS, it emphasizes practical, working-life-oriented education and applied research, development, and innovation (RDI). The institution serves around 9,000 students and employs roughly 700–800 staff. It is owned by the cities of Lahti and Lappeenranta and works closely with regional businesses and organisations to support economic development and employment. LAB also provides education in English and attracts an international student population.
